The Cincinnati Reds sign Armando Galarraga

The Reds have signed 31-year old righty starting pitcher Armando Galarraga to a minor league deal. He pitched in 5 games (all starts) for the Astros last year and he was 0-4 with a 6.75 ERA and a 1.92 WHIP. He also pitched in 10 games (all starts) in A+AAA-ball last year in which he was 3-2 with a 3.97 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP. he has now pitched in 100 games (91 starts) in his first six years in the majors and he is 26-34 with a 4.78 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP. He will be a big time longshot to win a job on the Reds’ pitching staff when the 2013 season opens.
